Pavilion of Art and Design
For the Pavilion of Art and Design London Cristina Grajales is pleased to present works from the gallery collection as well as new works.
For 2010, the gallery is pleased to introduce the work of three new designers to the collection, Nigel Coates, Sam Baron and gregorysung. Working with Nigel Coates, the gallery presents works from his Baroccabilly collection. These sensual and surrealistic works are opulent in materials and meticulous in the details. We are also pleased to present the glass sculpture by Sam Baron. Dans le cochon tout est bon is a humoristic interpretation of sausage that challenges one's perception of art form of creating food. Finally, we are premiering the Pour Celain stools by gregorysung that were developed specifically for PAD London. These stools evoke the poetic sensibility of Noguchi through the exploration of materials and traditional crafts. The perceived fragility of the material, a ceramic seat surmounted a wooden frame, questions the functionality of the piece.
The gallery is also presenting new works by Ayala Serfaty and Sebastian Errazuriz. Translating mohair and Wensleydale wool into felt, Ayala Serfaty allows the material to define the form in her Apaya Taltal floor light. Sebastian Errazuriz has collaborated with Italian woodworkers to develop a remarkable meandering shelf unit. The most striking object in the booth is the beautiful iridescent rug by Hechizoo which evokes a sunset with copper gradating into blues, indigos and violets.
The gallery is also presenting a cabinet by Christophe Côme, a rare bar by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne and a exquisite textile miniatures by Sheila Hicks.
